Study on old age homes in kerala (2015)
On the request of the Government of Kerala, CGS undertook a study on the old age homes in the state. There were around 600 old age homes in the NGO sector and 15 in the government sector at the time of the study. We selected 600 residents from 30 of these homes and interviewed them on pre-tested interviews schedules. We also interviewed the supervisors of these homes to know the management aspects of these homes. It was found that the majority of the homes were poorly managed and were managed on welfare methods. The Government run homes were slightly better in this respect but not very much.
Health Care System, Health Seeking Behavior and Health Outcomes: A Study on the Sixty Plus

University Studies
Inspired by the Centre faculty, the University of Kerala in its different Social Science Departments has produced a number of Ph.D. Dissertations and double that number of MA/M.Phil dissertation on aging since the inception of the Centre. Aging has now become a compulsory subject in the Sociology and Social Work disciplines in all the universities of Kerala, thanks to the promotional work undertaken by the Centre through its faculty and through its other seminars and other promotional work. In a similar manner the other constituent universities on the CGS Board also have brought out a number of studies on aging both as independent research projects and as Ph.D. and M.Phil dissertations.
Manual on old Age Homes (2016)
On the request of the Government of Kerala, the Chairman of the Centre prepared a Manual on Old Age Homes. Government has used it extensively to formulate its rules for Old Age Homes in Kerala.
